meet Tabitha!

The story: While visiting my great-grandma and other family in Newport, WA, my sis and mom and I went into this crazy feed store in Idaho to get Max (see furr in background of picture) a rawhide thing and amongst the chickens, bunnies, dogs, cats, gerbils, monkey and tiger (yes, there's a poor tiger caged inside this feedstore) was a tiny little meowing kitten. As serendipity would have it, Jacob and I had just decided the day before that we're moving out of our downtown apartment into a beautiful cozy house in Ballard where cats are allowed! We were kinda thinking of getting a cat but had no intention of doing it so soon and we had to get a girl because they're less allergenic and he gets pretty itchy-eyed around cats. So I learned that the adorable little gray kitty was indeed a female and had been abandoned a week ago in a box with the rest of her litter and she was the only one left. I tried to call Jacob but crappy cell phone reception prevented communication so I made an executive (read: impulsive) decision and took her home! So now we're harbouring a little contraband animal in the apartment until we move... and this morning's run-in with the landlady while caught carrying an empty dog carrier thing and then my lame blabbering excuse, something about taking my mom's dog to Spokane for the weekend, probably will get us caught sooner rather than later. If not that, then her high-pitched little "meow"s when we leave for work in the morning that are still audible outside the door even through the two blankets we've hung up in doorways and the television we've left blaring inside. Good thing we've got another place lined up.
She's a smart little thing and acts more like a puppy than most kitties I've had... she follows us everywhere, jumps up on our laps when we pat them and cries when we walk out of sight. She's really social-- no running off and hiding under the couch when people come over or anything. She likes car rides too, though I dunno what she's gonna do when she gets too big to sit up behind my head on the seat headrest thing. She purrs CONSTANTLY!
Anyway, if anyone wants to come over and cuddle with the world's cutest kitten... she's especially lively at 3AM!
and her breath smells like cat food.
